What is belski brothers?

The Belski brothers are a group of three siblings who gained international recognition for their efforts in rescuing Jews during the Holocaust. The brothers – Tuvia, Zus and Asael Belski – were part of a larger group of Jewish partisans who operated in the forests of Belarus during World War II. They established a community of Jewish refugees in the woods, providing them with food, shelter, and protection from Nazi extermination squads.

The Belski brothers were known for their bravery and resourcefulness, often resorting to guerrilla tactics to evade German soldiers. They were instrumental in rescuing over 1,200 Jews, including women, children, and elderly individuals, from the ghettos and concentration camps.

Their story was immortalized in the book "Defiance: The Bielski Partisans" by Nechama Tec, which was later adapted into a feature film titled "Defiance". The Belski brothers continue to be celebrated as symbols of Jewish resistance against Nazi oppression, and their legacy inspires future generations to fight against intolerance and persecution.
